First-Year Seminar Proposal

Thank you for your interest in teaching a First-Year Seminar. Please submit responses to the following questions using the online proposal form. Proposals are due by Friday, October 28, 2016.

Please insert a 100-200 word description of your seminar. The description should describe the big questions and issues addressed in the seminar, describe why the topic is important, and make it clear how first-year students will engage with the topic.
How will your course align with the KU Core learning outcome for critical thinking? How will your course structure help students to practice and develop the skill of critical thinking? The integrative assignment is usually completed in stages to support and facilitate the learning of critical thinking. Briefly describe an assignment that you might use for this purpose.
How will your seminar introduce students to opportunities for experiential learning? What outside partnerships or course activities will foster early connections with experiential learning and allow students to practice skills by applying knowledge in other settings?
Creativity is encouraged in designing a FYS. If you have anything else to add about your FYS, please do so here.
