Programming Guidelines

When planning a program for Hawk Week, please make sure that the programs follow the guidelines below. If you have questions while planning your event, please contact hawkweek@ku.edu.

Programming should:

  1. Create a welcoming and engaging space for all students
  2. Prepare students for curricular and co-curricular involvement
  3. Serve as an introduction to and/or exploration of KU and its opportunities

We will not accept programs on the following dates in order not to conflict with Signature Events.

  • Thursday, August 17
  • Friday, August 18
  • Saturday, August 19, after 5:30 p.m.
  • Sunday, August 20, after 1 p.m.
  • Saturday, August 26

We also discourage events on the following dates to unify campus messaging in support of class attendance. Events that do not conflict with classroom activities, for example events that allow students to come and go freely throughout the day, will be considered. Events during the evenings of the following days should not extend past 9 p.m.

  • Monday, August 21
  • Tuesday, August 22
  • Wednesday, August 23

If you are interested in creating a sustainability plan for your event or discussing ways to make your event more sustainable in any way please contact Kim Criner, Education and Outreach Coordinator at the Center for Sustainability at kcriner@ku.edu.
