Office of First-Year Experience

Discover. Engage. Belong.

The Office of First-Year Experience was established in 2012 to house existing and new programs to challenge and support first-year students. The office coordinates Orientation, Hawk Week, and UNIV 101, as well as new programs implemented as part of Bold Aspirations, including KU Common Book, First-Year Seminars, and Learning Communities.

First-Year Experience programs are designed to intellectually engage freshman and transfer students and to introduce them to campus resources and opportunities for experiential learning. The office, located in 145 and 151 Strong Hall, consists of professional staff, student staff, and faculty fellows.

Mission Statement

The Office of First-Year Experience works in partnership with you to create environments that help students to discover, engage, and belong at KU.
