Office of First-Year Experience
Discover. Engage. Belong.
The Office of First-Year Experience was established in 2012 to challenge and support first-year students through academic and co-curricular programs. The office, a unit of Academic Success, coordinates Orientation, Hawk Week, KU Common Book, UNIV 101, First-Year Seminars, and Learning Communities.
First-Year Experience programs are designed to intellectually engage freshman and transfer students and to introduce them to campus resources and opportunities for experiential learning. The office, located in 133 Strong Hall, consists of professional staff, student staff, and faculty fellows.
Mission Statement
The Office of First-Year Experience develops innovative programs in collaboration with campus partners to encourage students to discover, engage, and belong at KU.
Vision StatementÂ
We strive to create inclusive environments where students meet people and identify resources and opportunities to pursue their goals and surpass their expectations.
