Jessica Mattes

Jessica Mattes is a Program Coordinator for orientation programs in the Office of First-Year Experience. She hires, trains and supervises the orientation assistant staff. She works with students throughout their first year at the University of Kansas and encourages students to engage in the unique opportunities available at KU.

Prior to joining the office, Jessica was an academic advisor in the Undergraduate Advising Center at KU. She also has experience with admissions, student activities and residence life. Jessica earned both a BA in Journalism and a BS in Business Administration from Drake University, and she graduated with her Master’s in higher education administration from KU in 2015.

"My first year in college, I learned the value of networking with my peers and faculty. I earned multiple internships and leadership positions through my on-campus networks. In addition, I felt connected to my campus, peers and faculty, which inspired my career in higher education."
