Pre-orientation Activities

To prepare for your upcoming Orientation and your transition to campus, you will need to complete online tutorials about course enrollment and college finances. You’ll also complete pre-advising and StrengthsFinder tools to help us get to know you better.

  • The Discover KU tutorial will introduce you to academic expectations and advising. You’ll learn about typical first semester course schedules. You’ll also discover the tools used to search for and add classes to your course schedule during enrollment. You can access this tutorial in Blackboard using your KU online ID and password.
  • The Pre-Advising Questionnaire helps you prepare for your academic advising appointment and course enrollment. Completing the questionnaire provides your academic advisor with all the information needed to create the best course schedule for your interests and abilities. You receive a link to the questionnaire in your email. You can also access the questionnaire through the Discover KU Blackboard course.
  • StrengthsFinder identifies your talents and provides opportunities to turn them into strengths. You will use StrengthsFinder throughout Orientation, academic advising, and your first year at KU. You will receive a link to StrengthsFinder in your email. You can also access StrengthsFinder through the Discover KU Blackboard course.
  • Paying for KU introduces important information about college finances. Make sure you review the tutorial and check the details of your financial aid package. You can access this tutorial in Blackboard using your KU online ID and password.

Completing all of these sessions typically takes about an hour and will allow you to make the most of your KU Orientation experience. If you have any questions along the way, please feel free to contact us. Our phone number is 785-864-4270 our email is firstyear@ku.edu.
