Matt joined the Office of First-Year Experience in August 2017.

Matt was born in Aurora, Illinois and raised in the nearby towns of St. Charles and Geneva, Illinois. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Art History from Augustana College (Rock Island, Illinois) and his master’s degree in Art History from the University of Connecticut. He is currently an M.A. student in the Indigenous Studies Department at the University of Kansas. Prior to joining the Office of First-Year Experience, he worked for three years as an instructor of Art History and Humanities courses at Waubonsee Community College in Sugar Grove, Illinois and for two years as a docent at Farnsworth House in Plano, Illinois. Matt aspires to attain his doctorate degree in Art History and pursue a career studying the representation of Indigenous peoples by American artists.

My first year in college, I discovered the discipline of Art History while taking a required general education course, and my career trajectory has not wavered since.”
